As many as 86 habitual offenders were taken into preventive custody during a raid in Bangalore on Saturday. The police let them off with a warning not to indulge in any illegal activity. Of the 86, 33 were booked following which they were produced before a sub-divisional magistrate court. They were asked to produce security bonds in court as well before being let off. The police said that the raid was conducted in view of the Assembly elections.
Earlier, Police Commissioner B.G. Jyothi Prakash Mirji conducted a meeting with police officers and instructed them to issue a warning to habitual offenders as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incidents.
More raids
Meanwhile, other divisions too are conducting raids, said police officials. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) C. Rajappa said that 300 such history-sheeters coming under the West division were taken to Freedom Park, Ambedkar Stadium and CAR Grounds, and warned before being let off. In the North-East division, 80 history-sheeters were warned.
