7-year-old falls into storm water drain, dies

A seven-year-old boy lost his life after falling into a storm water drain in Nagadevanahalli in Ullal under Kengeri police station limits on Wednesday evening. His body was found after over three hours.

According to the police, Rakesh, a 1st standard student, is the son of construction workers. They were at work and Rakesh was playing nearby when the accident occurred.

He was last seen by his parents around 5 p.m. Unable to find him, the parents informed the police and the Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services. After searching the locality for over three hours, they found then body in the storm water drain.

The body was sent to a private hospital in Kengeri for post-mortem. A case has been registered.

Mayor G. Padmavathi visited the hospital and announced a compensation of ₹1 lakh and a slum board house for the parents.
