A 45-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in HAL police limits on Thursday night.

The deceased Saroja, a resident of Munenakolalu, was living with her son Prem Kumar and daughter-in-law. However, she was alone at home on Thursday as they had gone to Thanjavur for the Diwali festival. They returned on Friday morning and were shocked to learn that Saroja had ended her life. The house owner also helped shift Saroja to the hospital where she was declared dead.

Police said there was no death note. Family sources told the police that Saroja was suffering from an ailment and suspect that it could have led to the extreme step. However, the police are yet to ascertain it. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
