As many as 380 new Karnataka Sarige buses were inducted into the fleet of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Monday. While 70 of these buses will be pushed into service immediately, a further 310 will begin plying by November this year, KSRTC officials said.

The buses were launched by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who said that the corporation was targetting the induction of 1,594 new buses by March next year. “This year, around 20 per cent of the fleet will be scrapped and these new buses will help bridge the gap,” he said.
