Three college students were killed on the spot and two others injured when the car they were travelling in lost control and turned turtle on NICE road in Hulimavu on Friday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Srivatsa (23), Harsitha (24) and Shruthi (24). The injured Pavitra (23) and Praveen (24), who was driving the car, were admitted to a private hospital and are said to be critical.
The victims are students of Alliance University situated on the outskirts of the city and were on their way to attend college.
The incident occurred at around 7.30 a.m. when Praveen picked up his friends from Bannerghatta and the car was heading towards college on NICE road .
Praveen, while driving the car, tried to pick up a mobile phone which was kept for charging and lost control. The car was overspeeding and rolled many times and collided with a parapet wall before coming to a halt.
Passers-by rushed to their help and with the help of police pulled out the victims from the mangled car and took them to the hospital where the doctors declared the trio as brought dead.
The Hulimavu police have taken up a case and are investigating.
