25-year-old techie raped in her PG accommodation

A 25- year-old software engineer, working with a leading IT company in the city, was raped at her paying guest accommodation in Electronic City on Friday.

According to the complaint filed with the police, the victim was asleep at her first floor PG accommodation, and her roommate had left for work at around 4 a.m. leaving the key on the windowsill, adjacent to the door.

An unidentified person gained entry into the room using the keys and was trying to steal things when the woman woke up. The man allegedly then overpowered her, gagged her and raped her before fleeing from the scene. The shocked woman called her parents and narrated the ordeal before filing a complaint with the Electronic City Police.

The police said that the victim is from outside Karnataka and had started working at an IT firm in Electronic City only a few months ago.

Case registered

A case of rape has been registered. Police are trying to trace the person who committed the crime.

A special team has been formed to investigate the case. The victim is in shock and undergoing treatment at a hospital.
