24-year-old engineer receives heart transplant

A 24-year-old engineer from Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh received a heart from a donor at M.S. Ramaiah Narayana Heart Centre in the city on Thursday.

The son of a labourer, he had dilated cardiomyopathy and was in need of a transplant. The Andhra Pradesh government is bearing the cost of the treatment, sources at the hospital said.

The donor was from the same hospital. The liver and kidney were sent to other hospitals in the city, said a ZCCK official.
