Over 200 police personnel cutting across ranks are gearing up to participate in the 10th edition of the TCS World 10k on Sunday. They will be running for a special TCS World 10k run (Police Cup), which was launched for the first time by the State Home Ministry this year.

Police personnel will be divided into teams of three. The fastest team will win the Police Cup. “This is separate from the official marathon,” said a senior police officer. “The aim is to foster partnership and teamwork.”

The teams will be flagged off by Director General and Inspector General of police R.K. Dutta at Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.

“Earlier, some policemen had participated in the marathon in their individual capacity. But, this time we wanted to make it special by launching an award just for the police,” said the senior police officer.

Running seems to be the buzz word in the force these days. In December 2016, the HAL police participated in an 8-km run as part of a crime prevention campaign.
