The Satanur police are on the look out for a 19-year-old Yemen national who is feared to have drowned in Mekedatu Cauvery river last Sunday.

The youth, identified as Omar Alamady, was a student at a Bengaluru-based English speaking course institute. He had gone to a picnic with his friends.

While crossing the river, he slipped and drowned. His friends made a futile attempt to search but later informed Satanur police.

Police officials rushed to the spot and summoned the local divers to search for the body but in vain. The police suspect that Omar might have drowned and his body may have been washed away in the river. The police are seeking the help of jurisdictional police along the river-side to lookout for the body.

His family were informed and they arrived at Satanur. They are helping in the search operation, a senior police officer said.
