A 17-year-old girl, who was volunteering at the International Wine Festival here, was molested, allegedly by three men at the festival, organised by the Karnataka Wine Board and the Horticulture Department, on Sunday.
The men allegedly spoke in an indecent manner to the girl and tried to grab her hand, the J.C. Nagar police said.
Soon after the complaint was filed, the police nabbed two of the three accused, identified as Kiran C., who works in the Revenue Department, and Surendra, an advocate.
The police said that Surendra had been registered as a member of the Bar Council, but he claimed that he was not a practising lawyer. A case under section 354 IPC (assault or criminal force with the intention of outraging the modesty of a woman) has been registered against the duo. The police have also registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The victim, a student, was a volunteer, Wine Board authorities said, but could not specify her role as she had been hired by a private event management company.
Managing Director of the board, B. Krishna, said he immediately sought to report it to the police after being informed about the matter.
