16-yr-old boy killed after falling from scooter

A 16-year-old high school student was killed on the spot after he lost control of the scooter he was riding and fell on the road in Sanjay Nagar on Tuesday night.

Karan Bharathi was returning home from tuitions when the accident took place. Karan, son of retired KAS officer Hemanth Kumar Bharati, had taken the scooter reportedly much against the wishes of his mother.

Police said Karan did not have a driving license nor was he wearing a helmet. The R.T. Nagar police have taken up a case and are investigating.

In another incident, a 35-year-old motorcycle rider was killed on the spot when a scooter rammed his vehicle on Hosaguddadahalli junction on Mysore road on Tuesday night.

The deceased Rajesh Kumar, who owns a gift shop in Vijaya Nagar, was returning home. When Rajesh Kumar reached Hosaguddadahalli junction, a scooter, which was allegedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner rammed his bike and sped away.

As a result, Rajesh fell from the bike and sustained severe head injuries as he had not strapped his helmet properly. A profusely bleeding Rajesh was rushed to Victoria Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The Byatarayanapura traffic police have taken up a case of hit-and-run and are investigating.
