150 cases cracked in three months, claims police

Cracking over 150 cases including dacoity and murder in the last three months, Bangalore Rural police has arrested 114 culprits and recovered around Rs. 80 lakh worth of valuables, a top police official said.

Important among the cases was solving of the murder of Advocate Ravikumar in Nelamangala taluk last month in which six perons. - Ranganatha, Imran, Jagadeesha alias Jaga, Rakesh, Rohit and Ramu (both from Tamil Nadu) — were arrested.

Efforts are being made to trace the other accused in the case, Superintendent of Police, Bangalore Rural, B.A. Mahesh told reporters here on Monday.

Two BBM students involved in mobile phone thefts were nabbed by the Bannerghatta police and 59 mobile phones worth Rs. 2 lakh recovered.

A vehicle driver, who decamped with the entire consignment of UPS batteries, which was to be sent abroad, en route and was trying to sell them in Madanapalli in Andhra Pradesh, was arrested and batteries worth Rs. 19 lakh recovered.

A four-member gang allegedly involved in the murder of a temple priest in Anekal taluk two years ago was arrested and gold ornaments of the deity worth Rs. 1 lakh seized.
