11 picked up in Bidadi gang rape

The Ramanagaram district police picked up 11 persons in connection with the abduction, dacoity and alleged rape of three waitresses of a Gandhinagar bar near Bidadi last Thursday.

Four were picked up on Sunday and the others on Monday.

On Sunday, the police detained Johnny, a resident of Sunkadakatte.

His interrogation led to the rounding up of Girisha, Sanjaya, Shiva, Nagesha,Rajesha, Guru and Pradeep, all aged between 20 and 25.

A gang of eight or nine members barged into the residence of the women in Mariyappanapalya in the early hours of Friday, kidnapped a few and allegedly raped three of them before abandoning them at a bridge near Magadi Road.

The police said that the gang members are residents of Sunkadakatte, Kottigepalya and Sumanahalli.
