To overcome shortage of land, the State Cabinet has decided to hand over 10,814 acres of revenue land located in industrial estates or areas to Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) ahead of Invest Karnataka–2016.

The KIADB, which had acquired revenue land, was unable to allot it to industries since it belongs to the government.

The State Cabinet, which met on Wednesday, decided to hand over revenue/gomala land located in industrial areas to the KIADB so that it could be allotted to investors. The decision was taken in the wake of Invest Karnataka summit to be held during February 3–5, 2016 here.

The Cabinet decided to hand over revenue land located in industrial areas in the 15 districts of Mysuru, Tumakuru, Belagavi, Hassan, Ballari, Vijayapura, Kolar, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, Dakshina Kannada, Haveri, Ramanagaram, Chamarajanagar, and Mandya to the KIADB, sources in the government said.

In Belagavi and Mysuru districts alone, 6,900 acres of such land would be handed over to the KIADB so that it could be allotted to entrepreneurs who would sign investment agreement during the Invest Karnataka meet.

Grant approved

The Cabinet also approved grant of Rs. 7.9 crore for the construction of a Devaraj Urs Bhavan in Mysuru. A sum of Rs. 7.5 crore was sanctioned for the construction of a Mini-Vidhana Soudha in Udupi district.

A decision was taken to recruit 100 doctors in Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) hospitals in the State. The doctors would be appointed on contract.

It was decided to allot 25 acres of land, which was recovered in Sira taluk of Tumakuru district, to eligible beneficiaries of 15 castes. Four acres would be allotted to Ramakrishna Ashram on a 30-year lease.

The Cabinet approved the revised expenditure of the Cauvery fourth phase, second stage drinking water project from Rs. 3,380 crore to Rs. 5,780 crore in Bengaluru.

It deferred the decision on approving the new cultural policy, which was drafted by a committee headed by writer Baragur Ramachandrappa.
