July 31, 2010 11:24 am | Updated 11:24 am IST - BANGALORE:

Minister for Housing Katta Subramanya Naidu on Friday announced that advocates would be given house sites in Suryanagar Layout, which is coming up near Electronics City on the outskirts of Bangalore.

Mr. Naidu was speaking at a function organised by the Advocates Association of Bangalore (AAB) on the premises of the Vakeelara Bhavan here.

He said 1,000 sites would be earmarked for advocates in Suryanagar. Provision would also be made to reserve sites for advocates when layouts come up at Nelamangala, Devanahalli and Malur.

Mr. Naidu was responding to a plea by AAB president K.N. Putte Gowda, urging the Housing Ministry to sanction house sites for advocates.

G.T. Deve Gowda, Karnataka Housing Board Chairman, said he had discussed the issue with the Housing Ministry. He expressed amazement that advocates had not yet been given house sites.
