As many as 100 motorists were given commendation certificates near the Cauvery junction on M.G. Road here on Saturday for following traffic rules and earning the tag of a ‘good road user.’
The certificates, along with a bag as gift, were given as part of the ‘Positive Strokes’ initiative organised by the volunteer-driven Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA) in association with the Bangalore City Traffic Police.
The initiative is aimed at encouraging motorists to follow road safety rules by recognising good traffic sense in commuters .
Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) B. Dayanand publicly commended eight road users on Saturday for displaying good behaviour on city roads and handed out ‘Good Road User’ stickers to them .
Road safety co-ordinator, CMCA, Anusha Jaishankar said the initiative was largely a youth-driven exercise involving youngsters as volunteers to participate in the initiative. The first phase of the initiative involved volunteers who visited the traffic management centre to identify good drivers on city roads by observing videos at traffic junctions . About 200 motorists identified will also be rewarded with commendation letters.
The second phase on Saturday involved identifying road users on the spot and handing out rewards.
