The Jnanabharathi police have arrested a 10-member gang that allegedly killed a 20-year-old youth for refusing to part with his money.
Imran Pasha was found murdered in a eucalyptus grove behind National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on the Jnanabharathi campus on February 6.
While Pasha along with others were allegedly indulging in gambling in the eucalyptus grove, the accused gang members arrived at the spot and reportedly threatened them with lethal weapons.
While the others ran away, Pasha tried to resist the attackers. The gang members stabbed him to death and made away with the cash.
The police picked up Lakshmi Prasanna (26) of Papareddypalya, H. Harish (19) of Hosakerehalli, S. Satish Rao (24) of Chamarajpet, P. Shreyas (20) of N.R. Colony, Arun Kumar (19) of Malathalli, C. Kiran (18) of Kengeri and along with four juveniles.
Extortion bid
The Sampigehalli police have arrested four persons who were threatening businessmen and demanding ransom from them.
Abdul Sattar alias Rashid and his brother Shabbir of Saraipalya have filed a complaint with the Sampigehalli police. The accused have been identified as S. Venkatesh (37) of Vidyaranyapura, L. Girsh (32) of Nelamangala, Prem Kumar (30) of Vidyaranyapura, Srinivas (27) of Mathikere and Harsha (27) of Yeshwanthapur.
Among the arrested, Venkatesh, Girish and Harsha have several cases registered against them at the Yeshwanthapur police station. Venkatesh is wanted in over 25 cases, while Girish is wanted in 13 cases and Harsha in nine, said the police. The other accused Prem Kumar was working as the car driver of rowdy sheeter Bullet Ravi of Yelahanka Satellite Town.
Lethal weapons and a car, forcibly taken away from the victims, have been seized.
