Nearly three weeks after it came to light that a five-year-old girl was allegedly subjected to mental and physical abuse in an Ulsoor school, the parents lodged an FIR on Friday at the Ulsoor Police Station.

Teachers in the school allegedly beat the child during her nursery classes, and even threatened to pull down her pants and take her to a dark room where a dog would attack her.

The parent alleged that the teacher would punish boys by forcibly pulling down their pants and making the rest of the nursery class chant ‘Shame, shame, puppy shame’. Her daughter was allegedly shamed by the removal of her undergarments while being allowed to keep her skirt on. The FIR copy states that this abuse occurred between June 2016 and February 24, 2017.

The parent had taken to social media to air her grievance. The post gained media attention. However, no police case had been filed. But the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) initiated a probe and summoned the school management.

It was when the abuse continued, that the parents decided to approach the Ulsoor police and lodge a complaint.

A teacher and the school principal have been named in the FIR. They have been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
