The Andhra Pradesh Government has declared on Thursday a seven day mourning period throughout the State following the sudden demise of Chief Minister YS. Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash in Kurnool district.

In a message to all the District Collectors, Chief Secretary P.Ramakanth Reddy said: “The State Government declare with deep sense of sorrow the sudden demise of Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday.”

“As a mark of respect to the departed leader, a State mourning is declared for seven days with effect from Thursday. The national flag will be flown at half mast during the period of State mourning. There will be no official entertainment during the period. All State Government offices, schools, colleges in the State will remain closed on Thursday and on the day of the funeral of the departed leader,” the message said.
