If summer vacation is what most children look forward to, it is an ideal time for parents as well to find the right camp for the little ones to help them engage constructively.
Traversing with time and searching for alternative sources to cut down dependence on digital platforms, smart mothers are taking to the yoga route to create a better choice for children to spend a stress-free vacation. “My son Anirudh loves to play video games and is hooked to the gadgets like tab, smart phone and computer. In the process, his routine gets affected as he often forgets to bathe and eat. After trying several options to help him overcome his gadget addiction that impacted his behaviour considerably, we have finally discovered a way out through yoga classes,” says Jyothi Priya, a mother of eight-year-old.
“Pranayama is one of the ways to declutter the mind and improve our focus. The earlier we try to practice the technique; the better will be the outcome. Breathing techniques coupled with a few asanas will help rediscover oneself to a great extent. And this is one of the main reasons why the regimen is gaining popularity among the younger generation of late,” said G. Eswara Rao, yoga trainer of Yoga Consciousness Trust.
According to trainers, the demand for yoga has seen a considerable rise over the last couple of years. Yoga instructor of Art of Living Indira Viswanadha says, “Comparatively, the participation among those aged between eight and above has gone up to 30 per cent. This is probably because most parents are trying to find natural remedies to address behavioural problems of their children that includes tackling distraction, dealing with hyper activeness and mood swings.”
