Young Indians (Yi) volunteers of Confederation of Indian Industry planted 1,000 sapling at Sanketika Vidya Parishad Engineering College under the Yi - One Million Tree initiative in the presence of General Manager of Hindustan Zinc Ltd. Ch. Prabhakar Rao, Head – HR Department Debabrat Mishra, Manager Sekhar Babu, Principal M.R. Panigrahi, Dean Antharam, Secretary and Correspondent of the college S.V.H. Rajendra and others.

One of the key initiatives this year across the Young Indians chapters in the country is the one million tree plantation initiative, according to head of CII Vizag Zone Vinay Iyer.

Under this initiative, Yi have set a target of planting one million trees across the length and breadth of the country within a span of 365 days.

The Young Indians Vizag chapter has committed to plant 50,000 trees in Visakhapatnam over the next one year beginning June 5 this year and is actively involving all the stakeholders, including industries, academic institutions, civil society and young volunteers, he said.

A similar plantation programme was also organised on August 15 at the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park where the Young Indians along with the students of Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan participated in the event.
