A year-long ‘Satrayagam' will be performed at Sri Surya Sadanam at Garividi from May 27, Sadguru Krishna Yaji of Surya Peetham, has said.

Addressing a ‘Vidwatsabha' (meeting of scholars) here on Sunday, he said Sri Satya Saibaba and Sri Datta Peethadhipati Ganapati Satchidananda Swami had asked him to perform the yagam to ward off the evils of the Vikruthinama samvatsaram and for universal peace. He wanted all the eminent scholars present to participate in the yaga and make it a success. People's contribution should be by participating in its performance, he said. The Satrayagam was earlier performed at Surya Peetham for a year from 1993. The main aim of the yaga is to instil ‘satwaguna' (peace-loving disposition) among people. The ‘vidwatsabha' was organised to felicitate Krishna Yaji on his receiving Hariharananda Saraswati smruti puraskara of Varanasi Sampurnanada Sanskrit University on March 17. Eminent scholars including the university Chancellor Vempati Kutumba Sastry, former MLC S.T.P.V. Prof. Kutumba Sastry spoke on the greatness of the way of life in the country that had been instilled by seers beginning from Adisankara and encapsulated in the dictum ‘know thyself.'

Krishna Yaji released two books: Vanamaladwitiya written by Prof. Kutumba Sastry and “Endulo Emundi” penned by Dr. Rangacharyulu.
