Five hundred first year students of B.Sc. (nursing) course, sanitary workers along with doctors and nurses who have not been vaccinated so far, have been administered hepatitis B vaccine at the Department of Gastroenterology of AMC and KGH on Thursday on the occasion of the World Hepatitis Day.

The department’s aim is to prevent hepatitis B infection among the medical care givers, its HoD in-charge L.R.S. Giridhar said.

The camp was inaugurated by Superintendent of KGH M. Madhusudhana Babu.

The Department, under the Project Habeeb which commenced in 2010, has vaccinated several thousands of doctors, paramedical staff, pupils of GVMC schools and others against Hepatitis B.
