Are there any rules governing the behaviour of journalists? Is there a risk to the life of a journalist? How do newspapers gather information from far away places?
These are some of the questions students asked at the Young Journalists’ Workshop organised by The Hindu for readers of The Hindu In School edition.
The workshop organised for students of schools in and around the city who subscribe to The Hindu In School edition asked a number of probing questions on the working of newspapers and the profession of journalism.
The students were keen on understanding what drives a journalist and how a professional covers events. The readers wanted to know about the deadlines in newspapers and how a late breaking news is accommodated in the publication. Students from over 20 schools along with their teacher escorts participated in the workshop. The teachers too got their doubts clarified on the working of newspapers and how to become a journalist.
After the workshop, some of the students said that they were impressed by the workshop and some of them were inspired to look at journalism as a career.
