There is enough talent and natural resources in Andhra Pradesh to develop on its own steam without having to look for a helping hand from Telangana. Revolutionary poet Vangapandu Prasad echoed these feelings through songs.

The State will develop and there are a plenty of opportunities for all in the new state, he said through the song at a performance in Andhra University here on Monday, drawing applause from the bystanders, staff and students of the university apart from Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju and Registrar Ramamohan Rao.

With the sole aim of boosting the spirits of the youth and people of the region who felt let down by the process of bifurcation of the State, Vangapandu sang a few songs specially penned for the occasion. In his songs he listed out the natural resources of each of the 13 districts of the State and spoke of how they are all would lay the foundation for the development of the State. The lyrics had a tinge of political colour when they praised Chief Minister designate N Chandrababu Naidu.

The morning first hour performance, organised by the Department of Theatre Arts, perked up the mood of the assembled people who stopped on their way to work in different departments of the university. The singer was accompanied by a number of members of the university.
