Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) vice-president Sunil Kishen on Thursday said women workers engaged by them after training in fashion designing and apparel-making were turning their project into a success story.
He was speaking at a roadshow conducted by the Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone, CII, and Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs here.
Stating that 85 per cent of their workforce was women, he said ready availability of labour in a radius of 40 km to 50 km was a big asset for them. He said they were operating 150 buses to enable the workforce to attend to work.
On their performance, he said they had achieved a turnover of Rs.1,217 crore during 2013-14.
The city has attracted investments from 12 units, including Brandix Apparel, Quantum, Thermax, S&S and Pioneer Elastics.
He said three more units, including one Korean firm, had signed MoU with them for investing in BIAC.
Mr. Kishen said BIAC developed at Atchutapuram was a unique integrated apparel chain conceived and nurtured by Brandix Sri Lanka, based on ‘fibre to store’ concept.
He said they were committed to vertical integration by bringing all value chain partners under one roof with plug and play facility.
