Members of various women rights organisations such as Progressive Organisation of Women (POW), AIDWA and Mahila Samkhiya, who have been demanding arrest of film director Ram Gopal Varma, have decided to go on a three-day fast at Gandhi statue near GVMC office in the city from Wednesday.

Speaking to media persons Lakshmi of Progressive Organisation of Women said they would intensify their agitation demand the arrest of the director. She said the director had insulted woman activist of AIDWA during a television interview.

Ms. Lakhsmi said they wanted to meet Collector and the Commissioner of Police to lodge a complaint against the film director. However, the Collector was not available. The Commissioner referred the case to DCP.

“The DCP said that the case was beyond the jurisdiction of Visakhapatnam commissionerate and they were awaiting a legal opinion,” Ms. Lakshmi said.
