July 09, 2014 12:18 am | Updated 12:18 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

A woman allegedly poisoned her two daughters and subsequently took her life at Madhuranagar here on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Akula Archana (36) and her two daughters, one was one and a half years old and the other three months old.

According to the Fourth Town Police SHO P. V. V. Narasimha Rao, while the mother hung herself from the ceiling fan, the children were probably administered poison.

The woman was married to Satish Kalyan Chakravarthi, who is working in a private real estate company.

According to the SHO, the woman was living in a three bedroom apartment, along with her in-laws. “At about 10.30 a.m. she bolted the door from inside and did not come out the whole day. Her husband, Satish, returned from work at about 5.30 p.m. and, finding the door locked from inside, broke open the door and found her hanging and the children lying dead on the floor, with froth at their mouth,” he said.

The bodies have been sent for post mortem and the reason is yet to be ascertained. The police are investigating the case.
