The body of an unidentified woman, aged around 50 years, was found in a pond at Indira Park in the steel plant area here on Wednesday.

According to Steel Plant Police Station Inspector K. Durga Prasad, the staff of Indira Park intimated the police after noticing the body floating in the pond.

“No injuries were found on the body. However, it seems that fish badly mutilated the face and it was beyond recognition,” said the Inspector.

The police said that people from Odisha in the area sell lotus flowers for which they get into the pond.

“We suspect the woman might be one of them and the incident occurred on Tuesday evening. A case was registered and the body sent for post-mortem examination. Investigation is on.
