Even as builders are grappling with issues of abnormal hike in the price of cement and sand, the State government has issued a new GO which they say will further affect the realty sector.
According Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (Andhra Pradesh) chairman K. Subba Raju and president Are Siva Reddy, the GO 33 issued following a direction by the Central government, has made certain provisions based on the National Green Building Convention.
It stipulated that for apartments with above 100 KW of power consumption, 25 per cent renewable energy should be generated. Another condition is that on the terrace 75 per cent vegetation should be developed.
Emphasizing that builders were for environmental sustainability, the two leaders and treasurer B. Srinivas described it as unrealistic, very expensive and contradictory.
Mr. Subba Raju said lighting common areas could be realistic. Though roof-top solar heaters were being installed, their maintenance was turning out to be a problem defeating the very purpose, he pointed out. Another provision was that houses in above 240 square yard should have their own sewage treatment plants. They wanted the GO to be withdrawn.
Mr. Subba Raju said the government stand on the sand issue had led to price skyrocketing. The management of sand reaches by DWCRA women was turning out quite difficult.
They suggested that sand supply be deregulated fixing a reasonable price.
