IBP Century Club here, where Asian Games medallist Myneni Sai Saketh had played tennis when he was young, felicitated him on Sunday morning.

Saketh won the mixed doubles gold medal and the men’s doubles silver medal at the Incheon Asian Games.

Visakha West MLA, chairman of District Volleyball Association, and former international volleyball player P.V.G.R. Naidu (Ganababu) said that after Karanam Malleswari, N. Lakshmi, and M.V. Manikyalu, it was Saketh who brought laurels to the city.

Mr. Ganababu also appreciated Saketh’s parents for the support they had given him.

President of the club and vice-president of Volleyball Federation of India S. Kodandaramiah said that winning medals in the Asiad was not a mean achievement.

Saketh, replying to the felicitations, recalled the days when, as a youngster, he had visited the club along with his father and played tennis. He promised to do better in future and win more medals for the country.

Club’s president G. Kattaiah Chowdary and Mr. Kodandaramiah handed over the honorary membership to Saketh.

Secretary of A. P. State Lawn Tennis Association V. Nani Rao, Saketh’s father Prasada Rao, president of District Volleyball Association T.S.R. Prasad, Secretary of Andhra University Sports Board M. Syam Babu, Saketh’s former coach P.K. Kishore, club members, and representatives of various sports associations felicitated Saketh.
