With the transfer of city’s Police Commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy to Telangana as chief of the Intelligence, the race for the post is hotting up. Rumours are rife and three names are being discussed in police circles.
Considered a prestigious assignment, the names that are doing the rounds are those of IG Police Welfare Sowmya Mishra, IG Guntur Sunil Kumar and ADGP (Org) Tushar A Tripathi.
There is also a talk that the commissionerate may be upgraded to Additional DGP rank status.
While Mr. Tripathi is considered senior most and is already in the Additional DGP cadre, the others are serving in the IG cadre.
“We are keeping our fingers crossed and there is no clarity yet. If the commissionerate is upgraded, then along with the ADGP rank officer, a number of other senior officers need to be posted,” said a senior officer.
