Issues relating to water, roads and health dominated the Zilla Parishad general body meeting on Wednesday with members, particularly those from the Agency, and MLAs registering complaints.

Elamanchili MLA Panchakarla Rameshbabu said bore water was saline and tankers should be sent to such areas.

Anakapalle MLA Peela Govinda Satyanarayana said proposals worth ₹1.2 crore for extension of pipeline and new bore wells—which were not approved earlier citing norms for MLC election —had not been cleared yet.

Members from Paderu, Munagapaka, G.K. Veedhi, Munchingput, Hukumpeta and Sabbavaram, among others, complained about water scarcity in some villages. In one instance, clean water was not even available for cooking mid-day meal, the Hukumpeta member said.

MP.K. Haribabu said he was according top priority to water and sanction of bore wells from MPLAD funds but not getting any information on their completion. Since the RWS Department was not submitting utilisation certificates spending fresh funds was posing a problem.

Some pipes worth ₹15 lakh were found damaged on the Bhimili-Mangamaripeta road, but officials were not even aware of it, he said.

He announced sanction of 20 bore wells for Anandapuram mandal.District Collector Pravin Kumar said though proposals worth ₹17 crore were sent under Contingency Relief Funds only ₹1.7 crore was released.
