Wage agreement for port and dock workers

A sub-committee will be appointed for pension consolidation

A new wage agreement has been reached for port and dock workers between five federations and representatives of management in the presence of Chief Labour Commissioner at New Delhi on Friday. It will be in force for five years from January 1, 2012.

According to general secretary of United and Port Dock Employees Union V.S. Padmanabha Raju, 57.14 per cent will be added as DA on the basic pay of December 31, 2011 and a 10.5 per cent fitment benefit will be added and 20 per cent house rent will be paid on the new basic as part of the agreement signed.

A sub-committee will be appointed for pension consolidation of pensioners and its report will be examined by Indian Port Association.

A decision will be taken after discussing it with the Shipping Ministry.
