To promote identified growth centres in its limits, VUDA has taken up laying of six new Master Plan roads in the suburbs of the city.
VUDA Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar has announced that equal priority will be given to rural areas also to achieve equilibrium in terms of development.
The six new roads running a length of 11.6 km will be laid at a cost of Rs. 29.5 crore connecting the outskirts with national highway-5 and Visakha-Bheemili Beach Road.
The roads are: 80-feet road of 2.2 km at a cost of Rs. 6.5 crore connecting the highway at Nagarampalem to the 100-feet Kapuluppada road via old Sub-registrar's office; 60-feet road of 1 km length connecting NH-5 to Sivasakthinagar via Ganeshnagar (Rs.3.5 crore); 100-feet road of 2.3 km connecting NH-5 at Law College to Rushikonda VUDA Layout (Rs.7.5 crore); 80-feetroad of 2.2 km connecting NH-5 at Yendada to Vizag-Bheemili Beach Road via GITAM University(Rs.4.5 crore); 80-feet road of 2.9 km connecting NH-5 at underpass to Navodaya School via Bakkannapalem(Rs.4.5 crore) and another 80-feet road of 1 km connecting the internal areas of PM Palem with NH-5 at VDCA Stadium (Rs.3 crore).
Work on the roads has already begun.
Master Plan roads were also developed in Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Anakapalle, Bheemili and Tuni urban limits under Town development works.
Few days back, the Vice-Chairman had conducted meetings with municipal commissioners and gram panchayat secretaries and asked them to submit proposals for formation of new roads.
VUDA will extend funds and technical support under Master Plan roads category.
