VUDA team to probe unauthorised layouts

VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj has formed an 11-member team and delegated powers to it to tackle unauthorised layouts in Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region and Visakhapatnam-Kakinanda Petroleum, Chemical and Petrochemical Region.

The team will be headed by Deputy Director of PCPIR V. Ram Kumar.

It comprises a junior planning officer, a work inspector, seven chainmen and an assistant. It will go on vigorous field inspections four days in a week and submit findings on the fifth day to the chief urban planner.

Powers delegated

The Chief Urban Planner after verification will submit a report to the Vice Chairman for initiating further action against unauthorised layouts.

The team has been delegated powers to file criminal cases against the owners of unauthorised layouts, apart from serving notices on spot under the relevant sections. The special team will start functioning with immediate effect.

The special team will also inspect the layouts pending for release of mortgage property and submit reports to the Vice Chairman about infrastructure provided in the layouts.

The team has also been directed to identify the areas covered under the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and unauthorised layouts for preparing area development plans.
