Action will be taken against realtors if they are found to be deliberately involved in jacking up price in the auction organised by VUDA on Saturday.
At the beginning of the auction process on Sunday, referring to the complaint that some people had deliberately indulged in sudden and high increase of the bid amount, VUDA Vice-Chairman N. Yuvaraj said the details would be ascertained and if necessary a police complaint would be made to take criminal action against them.
Asserting that the auction was meant for middle classes, he said there was no way one could discriminate among bidders in the auction. Since the plots in the layouts were earlier auctioned, the remaining were taken up for auction.
The next allotment of VUDA plots would be by draw of lots and the proposal for approval by the government was expected any moment. The allotment in the green field Paradesipalem and Dakamarri layouts would be by draw of lots, Mr. Yuvaraj said. However, strict eligibility criteria will be worked out, he said.
Later, auction officer and VUDA Secretary G.C. Kishore Kumar said the highest bidders for more than one plot had to pay 10 per cent of the total cost by Monday. If they fail to do so the plots they successfully bid on Sunday would not be allotted.
