Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority has received ISO-9001 certification in recognition of modernisation of administrative measures and making its services more transparent and easily accessible.

The certificate was handed over by Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister M. Maheedhar Reddy to Kona Sasidhar in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

A VUDA release said the certification was a result of all the initiatives taken and implemented by Kona Sasidhar during his tenure as Vice-Chairman, who has been transferred as Collector of Kadapa. Kona Sasidhar took the initiative to streamline administrative procedures to pave way for the public to avail themselves of the urban development authority’s services promptly and in a transparent manner.

All the administrative procedures were computerised and modernised using advanced technology and a database was prepared by adding a number of user-friendly software.

VUDA procured updated servers to place the database on its website for which an MoU was signed with Andhra University for updating from time to time and maintenance. A well-equipped record room has been designed and under progress for securing all office files.

These files will be accessed only by the authorised personnel through bio-metric system. File tracking procedure, computerisation of the LRS applications, evolving the method of self-calculation of charges to be paid, know your application status system, online information etc have been introduced to extend service to the users.

Besides automation, Mr. Sasidhar succeeded in making VUDA services more transparent and timely through special drives, ‘Meet the VC’ programmes and melas.
