March 22, 2014 08:08 pm | Updated July 05, 2016 02:05 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

All the major unions of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Saturday served a notice on the management to go on a strike demanding early implementation of wage revision and increase in HRA.

CITU, AITUC, INTUC, HMS, BMS and 10 other unions were signatory to the notice which was presented to Executive Director (Personnel) G.B.S. Prasad.

The notice said the unions would be constrained to go on a strike if their demands were not conceded on or after 14 days.

The sub-committees of National Joint Committee on Steel are slated to meet in New Delhi on March 25 and 26. RINL, the corporate entity of VSP, implements the agreement signed as per decisions taken by NJCS. The wage revision is due from January 1, 2012.

CITU leader J. Ayodhyaram and AITUC leader D. Adinarayana said they had been pressing for wage revision peacefully for several months. They said HRA should be revised immediately as 12,000 of 18,000 employees stay outside the VSP township, Ukkunagaram.
