October 19, 2014 07:26 pm | Updated May 23, 2016 03:57 pm IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

In a significant development, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant revived production with pushing coal and coal chemical plant on Saturday at 2.40 p.m. after shutting the unit for eight days.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu himself visited the steel plant and hailed the management and the workers for the achievement. Mr. Naidu in his chat with the top management advised them to take all precautions during the revival process.

With the snapping down of power supply the plant was exposed to a dangerous situation with reduction in temperature of coke oven batteries from 1300 degrees C to 670 degrees C.

Meanwhile, Steel Plant Employees’ Union (CITU) deputy general secretary J. Simhachalam and Steel Executives Association office bearers appreciated the efforts made by the management for reviving the plant in a record time.
