Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Thursday arrested G Rama Appa Rao, village revenue officer of Kannuripalem-Sundarayyapeta in Kasimkota mandal, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹ 9,000 from teacher MV Sreenivasa Prasad Varma for doing an official favour.

The ACB officials said Mr. Sreenivasa Prasad Varma along with two other teachers had purchased two acres and they approached the VRO for mutation and title deed of the land.

DSP of ACB (Visakha urban) K Ramakrishna Prasad said the VRO had allegedly demanded the bribe from Mr. Sreenivasa Prasad Varma for processing of mutation and to get an online entry of the documents and issue electronic pattadar passbook.

Fed up with harassment by the VRO, Mr. Sreenivasa Prasad Varma approached the ACB and complained against the VRO.

After verifying the facts, the ACB team trapped the VRO while he was allegedly accepting the bribe at Bayyavaram area in the district.
