After the festive season and immersion of Ganesh idols, it’s time to clear the clutter and make our city clean and green, particularly the coastal line.
Keeping this in view, a number of industries and organisations including the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Rotary Club, Papa Home, NSS students of GITAM and Andhra University and a host of voluntary groups came together to initiate cleanup drive and contribute to society in many ways.
In line with the initiative, Ken Foundation Society has organised ‘Vizag Coastal Cleanup programme’ involving NCC Cadets of Mrs. AVN College here on Sunday. A total of 70 cadets participated in the initiative clearing the garbage and debris scattered on the Beach Road from Gokul Park to Kali Temple, near Vishwapriya Function Hall, Yoga Village and Sagarnagar, Rushikonda and other areas. The cadets were led by NCC Officer of Mrs. A.V.N. College Captain N. Ramakrishna who felt that the local people should come forward to spread the awareness and help keep the beaches free from pollution.
With a total representation of 5,000 registered volunteers other than 3,000 students from various colleges and universities like GITAM, Gayatri Vidya Parishad, Behra College and Avanti College, the initiative concluded with the distribution of participation certificates. President of Ken Foundation P. Santosh and convenor Viyay Potnuru, among others also participated.
