The much-waited first direct international flight from Visakhapatnam to Singapore by Silk Air will take off on October 28

The much-waited first direct international flight from Visakhapatnam to Singapore by Silk Air will take off on October 28 and Silk Air will conduct road shows from the third week of this month for the benefit of air-travellers, according to Minister for Infrastructure, Ports and Airports Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

Talking to The Hindu , he thanked the Indian Navy, the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Central Minister D. Purandeswari and Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy for their efforts to make the flight possible by extending operation hours at Visakhapatnam airport. Mr. Srinivasa Rao also said that Thai airlines and Tiger Airways were likely to follow suit soon and there would be more international flights since Visakhapatnam is emerging as an industrial hub.
