A five-member team from district unit of Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI) is participating in a 10-day Chanderkhani Pass trekking expedition in the Himalayas being organised by the YHAI.
The team consists of Defence civilian employee Rajani Kanth (59), his son Vijai Kanth (18), nieces Ramya Kanth (20) and Dhanya Kanth (17) and Abhijit V. Anand (15), secretary of State unit of YHAI N. Nageswara Rao said on Monday.
Mr. Rajani Kanth had earlier participated in the Sar Pass trek in Himachal Pradesh, considered to be one of the hardest treks organised by YHAI. Mr. Vijai Kanth is B.Com. second year student of Gayatri Vidya Parishad, Ms. Ramya Kanth is doing final year engineering at GITAM University, Ms. Dhanya Kanth finished her intermediate, while Abhijit is class X student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, 104 Area. The trekkers from Visakhapatnam will join about 40 other participants from all over India. The trek includes rock climbing and rappelling. According to YHAI, this trek is one of the most popular trekking routes in the Shivalik Range as it passes through dense forest endowed with a variety of botanical species and colourful foliage with raw natural beauty. Chanderkhani, located at a height of 12,190 ft, provides an awesome and breathtaking view of some of the most beautiful snow clad mountain peaks.
