Vedanta’s Vizag General Cargo Berth Private Limited (VGCBPL) on Thursday docked another bulk carrier cape vessel MV Excel from Australia carrying coking coal for Steel Authority of India Ltd.

This is SAIL’s first cape size vessel handled at Visakhapatnam Port. VGCBPL is a mechanised coal handling terminal in the eastern coast located in the city. The terminal has docked more than 15 cape size vessels since commissioning of the terminal. The bulk carrier is one of the biggest ships with 292 m length and breadth of 45.48 m. VGCBPL with its mechanised terminal is equipped with handling fully laden cape size vessels, benefiting importers on account of high efficiency leading to fast turnaround of vessel saving freight cost, a spokesperson for VGCBPL said.
