Vizag police on alert

The City Police are on high alert in view of the announcement of the Union Cabinet decision on reorganisation of the state on Thursday night.

Three companies of para-military forces and two platoons of AP Special Police (APSP) are in the city for the past three months in view of the widespread protests over bifurcation of the state, according to Police Commissioner B. Shivadhar Reddy. The forces were deployed at sensitive areas of the city, residences and properties of Ministers, Andhra University and at public places on Thursday. Additional Director General (Coordination) V.K. Singh, who came here on Wednesday, is reviewing the situation in north Andhra.
