Vizag best suited for capital, says INTUC

February 23, 2014 02:24 pm | Updated May 18, 2016 10:26 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

District unit president of INTUC Mantri Rajasekhar on Saturday termed the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh as unfortunate and demanded the extension special status privilege with tax concessions to North Andhra and Rayalaseema for 10 years.

In a statement, Mr. Rajasekhar said since Vizag had better connectivity and ready-made infrastructure, it should be considered for making the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Describing the division as unfortunate, he said the Centre’s promise to provide package for development of backward areas of North Andhra and Rayalaseema should not be confined to five years. More industries would come if it was given tax exemptions/concessions for 10 years, he added.
