A total of 167 candidates have appealed to their respective Revenue Divisional Officers on Monday against rejections of their nominations for the Panchayat polls in the district.

The RDOs would dispose of the appeals on Tuesday and the lists of contestants would be announced on Wednesday which was also the last day for withdrawal of nominations. Regarding the fate of elections to the four Gram Panchayats, the nomination papers of which were taken away by the Maoists on Sunday, District Panchayat Officer K. Sudhakar said that a report was sent to the State Election Commission on the incident and a decision was awaited.

A fresh notification is likely to be issued for elections in the four Gram Panchayats-Nurmati, Beera, Boyitili and Killamkota in G. Madugual mandal.
