In spite of 20 persons, including two women, being sent to remand and some dozens of women detained and let off on Friday, villagers of Achayyapeta under Sundarayypeta gram panchayat are determined to stop Anakapalle Municipality from dumping garbage in their village. But on Saturday the municipality did not bring its garbage even as agitated villagers, mostly women were still seething with anger over the incidents of the previous day. Prohibitory orders under Sec. 144 are still in force in the village.
The villagers and those supporting them are planning to take out a procession from Achayyapeta to the Municipal Office in Anakapalle on Monday to represent their case and details are being worked out by united forum of people’s organisations. Its convenor Eggada Bhaskara Rao once again demanded the municipality not to shift its dumping yard to Achayyapeta and to withdraw cases against the 20 and set them free. A protest demonstration at China Sampatipeta was cancelled in view of the preparations being made for Monday’s rally.
Meanwhile several people’s organisations, NGOs and individuals have sent their pleas to district Collector to cancel the dumping yard at the village and set the arrested persons free through telegrams, fax messages and SMS from Hyderabad, Bangalore, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Anantapur, Anakapalle and other places.

Organisations belonging to the National Youth Network, UFRTI and other bodies sent the messages and some have individually called the Collector. One of them, Chakradhar of Samalochana said the Collector promised to find out an amicable solution to the problem.
The CPI’s Anakapalle town unit said the municipality should take a decision depending on the resolution made by the village gram panchayat. AITUC, Rytu Sangham and AIFTU (new) too condemned Friday’s incidents at Achayyapeta.
