“Corporate Vigilance Excellence Award 2013-14” was bestowed on Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited for its outstanding initiatives in vigilance and particularly for taking proactive and predictive vigilance measures from time to time.

Chief Vigilance Officer of RINL B. Siddhartha Kumar received the award from CMD of Neyveli Lignite Corporation B. Surender Mohan during the golden jubilee celebrations of the Institute of Public Enterprise at the conclave of Vigilance Officers held in Hyderabad.

“Vigilance Excellence Awards in individual category” was also awarded to vigilance officers of RINL for their meritorious services and contribution. AGM (Vigilance) S.R. Das, Senior Manager (Vigilance) D. Prabhakara Rao, deputy managers (Vigilance) M.V. Narasimha Murthy and P.S. Naidu received awards.

CMD of RINL P. Madhusudan congratulated the Vigilance collective for winning the coveted organisational and individual awards and observed that they reflected the transparency in administration and largely contributed to good corporate governance.

Safety award

In recognition of implementing best safety standards in its operations covering all departments the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant of the RINL has been awarded Recertification of OHSAS-18001:2007 for three years by BVCI. The BVCI conducted the audit in December 2013 covering all the departments in the plant. K Chengal Rayappa, on behalf of BVCI handed over the certificate to Executive Director (Works) incharge D.N. Rao at a function held in the plant on Friday. Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was certified for OHSAS-18001 in 2002 for the first time. A total of 50 departments have been covered in Occupational Health and Safety Management System. Owing to several safety initiatives the accident rate has come down drastically and since February 2013, there was no fatal accident in work units.
